Home Made Baby Food

I am considering embarking on the "Home Made Baby Food" journey. I was looking for some advice and tips though. In my quest, I have begun looking on eBay for food storage containers and books that might be good resources. I have come across many books and many different kinds of accessories that might be needed as my kitchen becomes a "baby food making arena". I am not sure if any of you who read this blog are familiar in this area and could maybe provide insight and wisdom. If so, please comment below. Even though I will not start to think about solids for Sierra until she is at least 6 months old (still another 2.5 months away), I would like to get some books now and begin educating myself on this healthy alternate way of nutrition and feeding. Your advice, comments, and suggestions are much appreciated!!!

i love the book Super Baby Food. her method is easy and all you need is a blender and extra ice trays. She really makes it so you can do it as much or as little as you want to. Its a great resource for recipes all the way through toddler times, and she also goes by months and what they can eat each month. Happy blending :)

I make Mia's food sometimes. I started her off with avocado. She loved it (as did all of my babies)... she started at 6 months, when I could tell she was ready because she would stare longingly at my plate and fork when I would eat. I'm not strict on making my own food though, I buy some frozen organic baby foods and I buy some gerber foods (Voted best tasting of all baby foods, but Mia likes the frozen organic best of all). Mia loves a squished up banana. I just mush it with a fork for about 2-3 minutes, it looks like soup. She LOVES it. I don't follow tradition "rice cereal" then "fruits" then "veggies" Nope, I just do whatever I feel like. I do try to give the same food several days in a row when introducing something new... this helps you identify allergies and stomach irritations.

That book mentioned above sounds really interesting! You should check it out at the library. Ice trays are great... you just pour the food into the tray, then pop it in to the freezer, once frozen, then you pop them out into an air tight container or baggie and use as needed. It's such a time saver!!!

Good luck with all of that! :) It's fun feeding your baby. Mia just finished pears. Seems we have a new favorite, as she is looking at me hopeful for more! LOL

I've also heard good things about "Super Baby Food." Of course, like any book, you'll agree with some of the stuff and not with others. I hope the homemade baby food thing works out for you. I was too lazy! :)
Love you.
