A little info about B.R.A.I.N. - A grassroots organization that my late husband Daniel and I helped get started and that we are very proud of in the Richmond Community.
Brain Tumor Resource And Information Network (B.R.A.I.N.) We are… A volunteer organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of brain tumor survivors, increasing public awareness, and raising funds to aid in the research to eliminate the disease. We… Raise funds to support brain cancer research to find a cure. Disseminate information about Brain Tumors to newly diagnosed patients and caregivers. Work with other organizations in our country that address advocacy issues. Work with the many organizations throughout the country and internationally that are also trying to combat this disease.

One of the most beneficial things that B.R.A.I.N. does, in my opinion, is hand out packets of information to newly diagnosed patients. When Daniel and I were sitting in the ER 2 days after Christmas in 2003 and the doctor came in and told us that there was a tumor on the right side of his brain and he would be undergoing brain surgery shortly, as you can imagine, we were overwhelmed. Because it was Christmas time, the doctor told us to call his office when they resumed normal business hours and he walked out of the room. The room fell silent and we just looked at each other, with 1000 questions and NO answers. We were both so young and afraid, I was 23 and Daniel was 25 years old, we felt like we had no where to turn for information. The packets that B.R.A.I.N. puts together includes books, pamphlets, information about second opinions, etc. This outreach was so very important to Daniel and it was one of the things that he wanted to make sure this organization did for other patients that were like us. Now, no one in the Richmond community gets diagnosed with a brain tumor and is left in the dark with no information. Honestly, it is because of people that generously donate their time and money to this organization that these packets are available all around Richmond. Thank you if you have already donated this year and I ask if you haven't, please prayerfully consider giving to this great organization - To provide HOPE where is it usually not given!

May God bless you, Karen :)

And, I am going to tell you the same thing I told Katie - you need to post more often! :-) I check everyday and hope to see new stuff.

When is your 16 week appointment? Any news about Brian's job? How did the Praxis test go???

Love you guys!
