Does this diaper make my butt look big???
Well if so, it is because it is made fully of CLOTH!!! That's right folks, we have embarked on a journey of cloth diapers. I fear I am becoming more and more like one of "those" moms. Hahaha!!!! Don't worry, although many have asked, we are NOT getting chickens and I won't be making my own oatmeal any time soon! :)
Back a LONG time ago, when I was in my early 20's and children were a far away thought, I had always mentioned to friends that I would want to use cloth diapers on my children. Well then I married Brian and we had kids and Brian was altogether consumed with sickness at the thought of a dirty diaper in our washing machine. However, I think the fact that disposable diapers cost an arm and a leg and our supply of diapers that people have given us is very much depleted at this point has possibly broken him in a little bit. It also was a huge blessing that my sister, Katie, who has been cloth diapering for 3 years now, had a large supply of diapers that she was not using. Cloth diapers are not cheap, but when someone loans you some, it is a HUGE blessing. So, with that, I invested about $50 on laundry detergent, wet/dry bags, diaper bio-liners, a laundry pail liner, and some snappi's (like diaper pins). Today was the first day that my two little girls were in cloth and I pretty much think we are hooked (well at least I am, and hopefully Brian will jump fully on board soon)! :) Aside from looking so cute in them and me thinking that I need to save some money so I can get some really adorable girly diaper covers for Ariella to wear around this summer, I love that they are so natural, inexpensive (after the initial investment), and comfy for our girls. Hopefully if we find that they are working out great, Brian will be more inclined to want to invest a little money and get our own supply. :) I am also hoping that the cloth will help Chyler potty train quicker. She is already showing signs of wanting to go on the potty, thanks to watching her big sister do it, but I am hoping the cloth will also be an encourager as well. :) Time will tell.
Trust me, the unhappy face has everything to do with the fact that she wanted milk and was not up for pictures at the moment and nothing to do with the comfy cloth diaper on her bum! :)

This is the huge bag of supplies my sister is loaning us! What a blessing. The bio-liners are also in this picture, those I did purchase myself and they are soooo helpful with messy clean-up!
This is the wet/dry bag I got for the soiled diapers, I still need to get a small wastebasket to line it with. Aren't the pink giraffes so cute?
And here are some pictures of the cutest 2 year old I know sportin' a cloth diaper....

Yay for cloth! Zachary is also sporting a cloth heiney these days, and I love it! It's a bit more work, but it will be a huge savings in the long-run, and I'm glad that we're not contributing extra waste to landfills. (I'm actually in the process of writing a whole series of posts on all the different types of diapers that we've tried!)
YAY!!! Love it! What kind is Chyler sporting! And LOVE your Pan Liner! Saw it today and ALMOST bought one, but holding off to make sure this is the real deal for me. :-)
Yeah, Cloth is so much fun. I didn't cloth with Aiden, but with Stella we do daily. You may want to check out Ebay or Etsy for ways to add to your stash without spending a fortune. Enjoy. Jenn
