Brian and the older girls (Ariella and I were headed to Richmond for the Home School Convention) went by the new house last Thursday (June 7th) after we had a meeting with our realtor to pick out all the colors of the cabinets, vinyl flooring, carpet, siding, light fixtures, etc.
It was exciting to see that a hole has been dug and footers are in place!!! Brian had met with the site Manager the week before (May 31st) and they had staked out the location of the house and talked at length about the construction process and what to expect. They told us that the footers would go in this week, but I was there on Monday (June 4th) and nothing had been done yet. In fact when we drove by, Sierra said, "Nope! No hole yet!" LOL! But now we have a hole!!! They told Brian that if all goes well, weather wise and stuff, we could have a house within 90 days of the footers going in. So if that stays true, it looks like it might be finished by Sept 7th or there about. It would be wonderful to close late September and then be out of our current house by Nov 1st. That would give us a little over a month to move, paint, unpack, etc. And we could have a House-warming / 1st Birthday Party around November 2nd!!!! :) Praying all continues to go well!
The house is positioned more towards the front of the lot, maybe closer than I would have liked, but I am sure it will be great regardless. Brian did this because he wanted to maximize the space in the backyard, which is definitely best, especially with small children. It is so hard to visualize it all at this point with piles of dirt and holes in the ground, etc. But still so exciting that it is (finally!) getting started! :) It feels more real now! Can't wait for it to progress on and on. I will keep you updated! :)
I went back today with the girls and took some pictures. The girls loved climbing through the "house" and they even picked up a rock for each of them to take home to remind them to pray for the construction workers and for our new house!

| This is what I saw when I pulled up! So exciting!!! |
| That's where my new front porch is going; SO excited about having a "country" front porch. Already keeping an eye on craigslist for some "front porch rocking chairs" :) |
| I took this picture because I could not believe the rocks and stone in the ground. Looks like we might have a fun time tilling and planting after we move in. |
| The bricks and cinder blocks have arrived |

| This is me standing in front of the garage (side entrance) looking out at the street |

| Brian picked out the brick color, I forget the name, "Olde Columbia" or something...they look perfect! |
| The girls had a blast running through the cemented areas. We want this to be just as much their "project" as it is ours. |
